Opening of Werich Villa
The villa at Prague’s Kampa has a rich history and a number of significant personalities who inhabited the house. Regardless of Jan Werich, after whom has villa its name, Josef Dobrovský, Vladimir Holan and Zdenek Wirth also lived here. The thematic permanent exhibition, which has become a new purpose of the renovated villa in the care of the Jan and Medka Mládek Foundation, pays tribute to these giants of Czech history.
Visual design for a long-awaited event, the opening of Werich’s villa for the public, literally opens up the building. Following the tradition of playful posters made by Frantisek Zelenka for the Liberated Theater in 1930s, Werich’s Villa is depicted as a place full of colors, movement and joy. Geometric segments floating in space refer to the avant-garde movement of the first half of the 20th century, which became the defining attribute of the Liberated Theater.
